Clothing & fashion labels: frequently asked questions

clothing labels faqs

Choosing a clothing label is not always straightforward. With so many labelling options available, it can be difficult to know where to start. We want to equip you with as much knowledge as possible to help simplify the process.

In this blog post, our clothing label experts have answered some of our most frequently asked questions to help you gain greater insight on what to consider before ordering custom clothing labels.

Which type of label fold is best?

Choosing the right label fold can be a difficult decision. The type of fold you choose is dependent on many other factors such as materials, size and the shape label you wish to have. It’s also important to ask yourself what you’ll be putting on the label and where will it be placed. Besides your logo, will there be any accompanying text or sizes?

There are four common folds; loop fold labels, each end fold labels, border ‘flat’ labels and mitre fold labels. Each type comes with advantages and limitations, so having a clear idea of what you want your label to achieve will aid your decision-making process. Can you help with design?

How many colours can be used on a label?

The number of colours that can be used is dependent on the type of label you wish to have. Woven labels are made using a loop and with greater intricacy which makes incorporating a large number of colours difficult. Printed labels, on the other hand, can include as many colours as you like, as digital images are easily replicated onto the label leaving no colour limitations.

Do you offer a sample pack?

We can provide label sample packs for all of the products we offer, free of charge! These can be ordered via the product pages on our website allowing you to select the samples you are interested in. These are sent out by second class post and you should receive them within 3 working days.

Is there a minimum order quantity? What is the lead time?

We work with businesses of all sizes, from start-ups to global brands. For this reason, minimum order quantities are dependent on the material, complexity and desired delivery date. Similarly, lead times fluctuate from one product to the next. Printed labels have a shorter lead time compared to woven labels. The greater the complexity the longer the lead time.
